PRIVACY POLICY
Effective 17 October 2026. DRAFT: to be reviewed before public release.
Hollow is an app for your Mac, with a companion app for your iPhone. It's built so that almost everything stays on your own computer. This policy explains what leaves it, where it goes, and why.
What stays on your Mac
Your conversations with agents, their notes, the shared library, petitions, spending records, settings and API keys are stored only on your Mac, in Hollow's own folder. We never receive them. There is no Hollow account and Hollow contains no analytics or advertising.
What goes to AI providers
When an agent works, Hollow sends the text it needs (your request, the agent's instructions and the relevant conversation) to the AI provider you chose for that agent: Anthropic, OpenAI or another OpenAI-compatible service, or Claude Code with your own Claude plan. Local models through Ollama stay on your computer. What these providers do with that text is governed by your agreement with them, not by us.
What the Hollow service stores
If you use an invite code to give your Mac a phone address, the Hollow service at hollowmere.org stores:
- that your invite code was used;
- your Mac's name as you set it in macOS (used to make the address readable, e.g. riaans-macbook-k7qf.hollowmere.org), and that address;
- identifiers for your Mac's tunnel and address at Cloudflare, and a hashed secret your Mac uses to prove it's yours;
- a count of notifications relayed for your Mac.
It does not store your conversations or the content of notifications.
Notifications
When an agent needs you, your Mac sends a short notification (a title such as "A question from TYPEWRITER" and a sentence of detail) to your phone. For the iPhone app, it travels from your Mac through the Hollow service to Apple's push service and on to your phone; the Hollow service passes it on without keeping it. For Hollow added to the Home Screen from Safari, it is encrypted on your Mac for your phone alone and delivered by Apple's web push service.
Connections between your phone and Mac
Your phone reaches your Mac over HTTPS through Cloudflare's network, which carries the connection to your Mac's tunnel. Like any such network, Cloudflare handles that traffic in order to deliver it; see Cloudflare's own privacy policy. Each phone is paired individually with a one-time code and can be removed from the Mac at any time.
The invite list
If you ask for an invite on this website, we store your email address only to send you an invite, and delete it on request.
Deleting your data
- On your Mac, Settings → Phones → Give this address back deletes your Mac's record, address and tunnel from the Hollow service.
- Removing Hollow and its folder (~/Library/Application Support/Hamlet) deletes everything stored on your Mac.
- To remove your email from the invite list, write to us at the address below.
Children
Hollow is not directed at children under 16.
